Title: Twist question on Tikka T-3 .223
Post by: sisu on February 23, 2010, 11:11:47 AM
Where the chart loses me is .223 Rem 8" twist T3 Mag then it lists a barrel length
then directly below that is this listing .223 Rem 12" twist but now where the other lists T3 Mag it says barrel length?????
Is the .223 with the 8 inch twist this particular cartridge? The .223 WSSM (Winchester Super Short Magnum) is a .224 caliber rifle cartridge created by Winchester and Browning based on a shortened version of the Winchester Short Magnum case.

What is going on? All I want to know is what is a Tikka T3 twist rate?

Tikka T-3 Chart (http://www.tikka.fi/pdf/specs/Lite.pdf)

Now this chart says all the .223s are 8" twist? These charts are directly from Tikka!

different chart (http://www.tikka.fi/pdf/datatable.pdf)

Earlier T3's were 1/12. A few years back they went to 1/8 and there is an 8 stamped on the barrel. Same with Sako, I have both.

:yeah: no 8 means 1:12, if it has a 8 it is 1:8. if its a newer gun i am sure its 1:8

Sisu, how do you like that rifle?  I am debating on buying a T-3 Super Varmint in .223 for some varmint hunting.
