hey wsu i was just wondering what bullets shoot the best for you out of that gun
we actually were just given the same gun
by the way nice bull
-
I actually shoot some home-made bullets. I haven't shot any store bought bullets. The bullets I shoot are 385 grain bullets that are similar to a maxi-ball, and they are very accurate.
-
Here is the bull I shot in 2008 with the bow.
-
another

Here is an as he lay picture. It started off with a location bugle about 400yrd up the hill when he bugled back at me I slowly made my way down the hill toward him. I got to about 40yrds when I spotted a cow looking back over here shoulder at me. After awhile she went back to feeding and then this stud walked down the hill from her, turned around and bugled and then layed down. I ranged him at 30yrds and got ready for a shot. I gave him a soft cow mew and he immediately bugled, got up and came walking right at me. When his head went behind a tree I drew back and held right above his brisket. At about 15 yrds I realeased and watched the arrow dis sapear into his throat. When I shot him he turned to take off and I gave a cow call which stopped him, He just stood there and it sounded as though he was taking a piss but it was the blood pumping out if him. He then turned to go and fell over dead.
-
Here is the shot window I had.
-
And then the work begins.
-
Nothing like good friends to be there when there is work to be done. I shot that bull at 11am and we had him broke down and in the truck by 2:30pm.
-
Heres a couple, I have some more some where around here of film that I need to scan.

Grundy - Are those bulls private property/field bulls? Just curious how you are getting them into the back of the truck whole. However it is, I've been doing it wrong!
-
nope. they were both timber bulls. we got them out with atv's and haywire. it keeps them cleaner and less hassle if you get them out whole.
-
My Dad with my 09 bull.
The long version of the story is in the elk topic under "huntin with my dad 09"
It was a great time!!
-
Awesome bulls fellas. Keep em coming. Love the ones in the snow!
-
here is one of the ways we get them out whole. it might not be graceful but like i said it keeps the meat clean and thats the main thing. we also use alot of hay wire and blocks.
-

No, I would like to say it was shot on a great pack in wilderness hunt in the cascades but I pretty much got him in my back yard :chuckle:

Great Pic! Congratulations on the trophy of a lifetime for many. Hope the meat sustained you well and great post, thanks for the pic. Love the color of those antlers.

07' 08' 09' bulls
-
Damn Fish-on you're an elk killin savage! You kill that 07' bull with archery as well? What did he end up scoring and did he make the P&Y book?
-
Fish, is that a PSE Bowmadness in the pic with the 09' bull? You like it?
-
The 07' bull was an archery harvest out of the Packwood unit. The bow in the 09' picture is the Mathews Reezen 7.0. The 07' bull scores 285 2/8 but that was not officially done. As far as track jobs go, the big bull went 80 yards, the 08' bull went 20 yards and the 09' bull went 20 feet.
-
Fish, was that 09' bull a late season bull? Looks like the hide is long and shaggy as hell. Nice bulls man, great post.
-
That is a late season bull taken from the Toutle Unit.
-
One of these days that golden horse shoe is going to fall out!!!
