Title: Knight Bighorn Question??
Post by: wazzu99 on March 17, 2010, 11:12:49 AM
Guys,

Looking at a knight Bighorn 50 cal and the ad says it uses 209 primers which are illegal in WA.  Is that possible and if it is can you convert it to use an ignition that is legal in WA?  I was told that Bighorn's in general were all legal in WA but obviously I may have been misinformed.

yes, you can convert to musket caps or # 11 primers. So yes it is WA legal. It's a good muzzleloader, brother and dad like theirs. I have a thompson center black diamond and like that also

You just need to order a #90023 breech plug from Knight with is for percussion or musket caps.......then you're legal.  Actually most Bighorns come with both breech plugs included when you buy them.

What's the going bid. I know a while ago you could find some sporting goods stores with some still on the shelf for a reasonable price. Which one is it. Blued/stainless, plain composite stock, black, camouflage, thumb threw?  You will really love this gun. Really nice to shoot.

Was it used or new? Congrats either way, you will love the gun. Let us know what you come up with for a load. Don't forget to order a set of peep sites for it.

Harvested my first ever elk this last year with a TC black diamond. :) I couldn't be happier with that gun!

The knight bighorn is equally as nice; the boyfriend's brother has one and he is very satisfied.

Hey Hitman, what store currently has the stainless Bighorn in stock?  My buddy needs to buy one and I may want to pick up a second.  I love my Bighorn.

He found them at Bob's sporting goods in Longview. I guess they bought out a store that had like 20 of them. I don't know if they still have any but it doesn't hurt to give them a call. Good luck.

Big J's in Orting has two bighorns black synthetic stock, stainless barrel for $375.  I just bought one ( they have 2 left).  Might have found one for less but now at least I can start to build it up and get used to it for the next four months.  I want to replace the sights with the Trueglo fiberoptic sight number ??? and I need a sling.  I am also thinking about a bipod.

I took my sling off.
Safari slings don't work that great cause the bighorn is barrel heavy, and i will not carry it barrel up.

Love my bighorn, got it at an estate sale for 150.00 dollars in the box, never used.  Blue stainless, camo with thumbhole stock now, had to replace when I noticed a slight crack in the stock, must have happened when I toke a fall with it the season before.
