Title: 2009 Fred Bear Showdown RTS 28"/60# Realtree APG
Post by: KimberRich on March 17, 2010, 09:17:25 PM
Buddy of mine has one of these that is brand new never fired in the box and is trying to sell it to me.

Comes with: Bow, Whisker Biscuit, Original QS, Stabilizer with Wrist Strap, Wheel Peep, Trophy Ridge Six-Shooter, Quiver, Trophy Ridge Hawk Eye Sight, and Nock Loop.

Anyone know anything about these and have any comments?  Seems like Bear's are in the middle to lower end of bow's but I'm new to Archery and was wondering if this would be an OK entry bow for me?? I fully understand that you get what you pay for but I'm not sure I want to spend $1500 to get a bow set up for my first one and decide it's not for me.  Thanks!

It was in the lower end of Bear's line up..it only has a IBO speed of 290fps...it is a fine bow but you dont need to spend 1500 on a bow
Bear and PSE have real good Kit Bows for 800 and under
I would look at
Bear ASSAULT it has a IBO speed of 328
PSE Bowmadness MC it has a IBO speed of 326
you can get them with a 5 Pin sight 6 arrow Quiver  WB rest peep and D-loop
for under $750.00

I bought it from him for $200.  After some research seemed like a good price and I wouldn't loose any money.  Like I said I'm a beginner at this archery thing but would it have been worth $550 more to gain that 35 fps?

Its not just fps that makes the bow expensive. Its a number of things, smoothness of the draw, accuracy, hand shock, noise, ect. Its all about what is comfortable to you. I could have bought one of the new super lightning speed bows this year but instead i went with one that was only 2fps faster than my old bow and i am driving tacks with the thing. it is all about what is comfortable with you.

your bow will be fine if you spend some time at the range dialing it in.

Good Luck!
