Okay, so is it or is it not okay to feed elk in the winter. Is it only deer that F&G are talking about in here?

I got that in an email a while back right around the time they were announcing they were going to begin feeding the elk in and around St. Helens. Aren't they doing exactly the same thing they are telling others not to do?

Most likely deer. Deer do not have the bacteria to digest hay very well. It ends up filling up their guts, yet they aren't getting the nutrition they need to survive. Elk on the other hand are like big cows and do just fine on hay.

i agree w/ bone, deer and elk do not eat the same vegeation's,that is how they are able to live in the same areas and survive. maybe during the winter just to survive they will. wouldn't u?
