Title: rejected!
Post by: BigGoonTuna on April 04, 2010, 07:23:16 PM
i figured i'd waited long enough to pick up the winchester model 70 i'd been wanting for quite a while, so i decided to go looking for one yesterday.  i stopped at sportsman's warehouse and just my luck, they had the one i wanted on the rack.  i decided to buy it, picked out a leupold VXII scope, and the guy was about to mount it up when he asked me for my ID.  i handed it over and told him that i had changed my address about a month back, and that the DOL had told me to just write my new address on the back with a sharpie and call it good unless i wanted to pay $10 and have my picture taken again.  he then proceeds to tell me that i can't buy firearms unless my license "officially" states my current physical address, the ink pen is good enough for the cops but not to buy a new rifle :bash:  i guess that sometimes i'm just too honest...i should have just kept my mouth shut.

i think i'm going to the DOL and forking out the 10 bucks to get a new "official" ID tomorrow.  i'm guessing that i'll get a paper ID until the plastic one comes in the mail.  is that good enough to make the purchase, or am i gonna have to wait until i get the real deal?  anybody else ever had this problem?

even if you kept your mouth shut you would of just lost 10.00 in a background check or more what ever they charge because it will not match in the system and you will be out the money. just happened to my cousin awhile back he went to buy a rifle and got rejected after they ran him because he had moved and was living at a diffrent address

my address was different and I was buying in idaho so I went out to my truck, got my registration with my current address and it was good to go after that.  As far as the paper I.D., well I guess it depends on where you go.  Last elk season I had a paper license, bought a case at a grocery store, drove down the road for some cope and the guy wouldn't sell it to me because of the temp.  If all else fails, spend your money somewhere else.

 :dunno: :dunno:

Maybe I just got over. I just bought, in Feb, a Savage MKII. I showed my DL with my old Ballard addr. When it came time to pay I mentioned I had just moved and had not changed my DL, but the Bank that issued the Debit card I was using had it. He ran the purchase with the new addr. No problems, no comments   :dunno:

I was totally refused when that happened to me. What sucked is I was buying something on sale and they would not honor it after I got the address changed, would not even do a layaway plan if I payed in full.
