Remington made a .54 in a model 700 ML and then they made a .50 magnum in model 700 ML. (magnum came with longer barrel and was marketed to accept more powder).
Winchester made the x-150, which was a .50 call. It was a winchester stock, and I believe most of the rest of the parts were made by CVA.
These are all good suggestions in addition to the others mentioned if you are canvassing the used marketplace.

I bought one for my wife as a wedding present and a couple years later got one for myself. They have all the advantages of an in-line as far as reliably firing, fast lock time and are lightweight for hiking around. Mine has a scope rail mounted to the barrel with a peepsight dovetailed into that, and a removeable breech plug. The scope rail is really nice for accurate aiming while working up a load.
I have a photo in another thread somewhere, I will try to find it as I do not have the pic on this computer.

If I was you, I would build a list of requirements for your muzzle stuffer.
1. You hunting out of state? Which states? So you can use a scope?
2. 50, 45, or 54 cal
3. What are you hunting? Deer, bear, elk, waterfowl, yotes,
4. What do you want to pay? Some muzzle stuffers are very expensive some come in a kit.
5. How light of a weapon do you want?
6. Do you want to go to the traditional muzzle stuffer? flint

Go with t/c havent had one mishap im extremely happy with mine this gun has not let me down at all real accurate my hunting party has three black diamonds and three knight bighorns i believe. the knights have been a disapontentment with not firing specialy at the moment of truth and on more than one occasion but they feel good in your hand and the company went belly up last year so im not to sure on get your parts
I don't think that the mishap was because of the gun. I myself have had a mishap happen when trying to shoot an elk with my T/C B.D at 50 yards and the cap didn't go off. :bash: Not the gun's fault but my own. I used a piece of plastic bag in between the nipple and the cap to try and seal out the weather. I'm pretty sure there was old batteries in the bag before I used it. I'm thinking that the battery acid that was on the bag caused the cap to malfunction. :bash: :dunno: Something that might of happened with the bighorn's is they didn't unscrew the secondary safety enough to let the hammer hit the cap hard enough. :dunno: :twocents:
As far as the best muzzy to buy. I would recommend either the T/C Black Diamond or the Knight Bighorn. I own both of them and really like both of them. No matter which gun you get. Make sure it has a fiber optic front site and a peep for the rear. And practice, practice, practice.

Huh? You put plastic between your cap and the nipple?? How about just put the gun in a garbage bag? :chuckle:
If the cap didn't go pop, it was probably because there was a nice plastic cushion under it.... if it did and the gun didn't fire, you either stopped or slowed the spark too much with the plastic.

I didn't just put the plastic in there with out testing it before hand. It worked every time I tried it out at the range. I'm not sure what gun you shoot but with my black diamond the cap doesn't seem to fit the nipple very snug. Putting the plastic in there tightened everything up. That way I didn't have to worry about the cap falling off when walking around and it created a vapor barrier so moisture couldn't get in. Since this happened I've given up on the idea and have switched to the water proof German caps and just pinched the cap so it fit's tighter. It's funny you mentioned the plastic bag. Cause one of the guy's who I hunted with would take some shrink wrap and completely wrap up his whole gun. Of course he was kind of a Nazi when it came to keeping his gun dry. I still think it's a good idea, I just won't ever use a plastic bag that had some batteries in it.

I have some rubber prophylactics to around the cap and nipple, they fit snug and seal out the moisture. I used them on my CVA Hawkin for years.

i like 2 brands and i own one of each t/c the black diamond xr and cva elkhorn209 with the musket converstion i like the cva a bit better shoots a little better and is a bolt gun you will see allot of t/c fans on here shooting the black diamond. hope this helps if you ever need info feel free to pm me i been in the spoke pole game for going on 14 years and i am 23 lol
Copy that. I have the CVA elkhorn pro and really like it. Wouldn't shoot anything else at this point.
