Title: Bear Attack Report
Post by: xXx Archery on April 07, 2010, 10:52:59 AM
Ok sorry it's been a few months
We just got the New 2010 Bear Attack bow in and this is a very nice bow from Bear.
The Max Pre-Load Limbs and the E-Cam are the two essential components on the Attack that create a new level of efficiency in bows.
The Draw on the bow is a little hard for a solo cam bow but not that bad for a bow with a IBO rating of 340fps
On the shot the bow is quite and smooth ...no hand shock..in this bow
the bow is 4.2lbs a little heavy but holds good on the target. Grip is thin I think it is a little thicker than the PSE grip
nice limb pockets with locks.
the bow came in at 74lbs and 29" draw
we set the bow to 70lbs with an WB rest, D-loop and Peep in the string
We shot a 420 grain arrow at 293fps...very good hunting speeds.
I think Bear did a great job on this bow
spec.
ATA 31"
Brace Height 7"
Speed IBO. 332-340 fps
Weight 4.2 lbs
MSRP $749.00

is it smooth and quiet it looks nice how does it stack up with the other bows hoyt, bowtech, mathews and do you know what the speed would be with a 430 grain arrow at 28 inches thank you for any input oh yea at 70lbs

I think it stacks right up there with the Big boys on the shot...Im waiting on Mods to do 28" draw ...sorry I called today and they are on back order
but off the top of my head I would say it would shoot about 280fps at that draw and arrow.

Forgive me if I am missing something or am somehow mistaken, but isn't that arrow you shot 10gr lighter than IBO rating for 70lbs?  Isn't IBO rating a DL of 30" with an arrow weight of 350gr and 70lbs?  This bow sounds like it's IBO speed is way over rated at 332 to 340, judging by the results you've posted.  I guess I don't see you gaining another 40fps by extending the draw length an inch and increasing arrow weight by 10gr to get to IBO settings.

Yep...sorry Typo...it was 420 grain arrow
so 29" 70lbs with 420 grain arrow at 293fps....

That's still pretty impressive from a used-to-be 2nd tier company bow.... I think they just got my vote for a bow that you've got to try before buying any of them.  I'd make sure I shot this bow before I bought anything, for sure.
