Just bought a game cam and am excited to get it up. Its a moutrie 4.0 anyone have any experience with this cam?
I've heard it works well if its above freezing but if it gets real cold the batts can run out. Also a little slow on the trigger speed so you have to set it up in a situation where you have a head on so the cam has time to turn on while the subject is still there.
I will post pics once I get it up. I am going to wait until late May so I can see who is growing what.

I have several of the Moultree cams and they work just fine. Are they the best,,? No, but they do their job as long as you set them up right!
1st) Cut and trim anything that will be blowing around a lot in front of the camera, they can not be in an area where there is a lot of branches and things moving around in the wind or you will have 500 pic's of a fern moving around,, not that's ever happened to me  (several times :chuckle: )
2nd) You don't want to place them on a cross trail where the critter will just walk by the cam, there trigger time is just to slow for that most of the time. Face the camera down the trail so it will have time to pick up the motion and I always have mine on 3 pic burst to help insure I get atleast 1 good pic.
3rd) Depending on what critters you want and what type of area you place your cam,,,, I put mine low to the ground at times to make sure I get Bobcats, Cougars ect..... a bit higher for Deer and Elk, If I have an open area like a clear cut then I'll place the camera height angling down so it wont pic up the tree blowing in the wind way out there, YES IT WILL DO THAT LOL...
4th) If you are in an area with an apple orchard or you put something like an apple block in front of the camera then that will help get the Deer and Elk to stop long enough to get some good pic's.
5th) ALWAYS shut off your camera before you take your S/D card out,, Overe time if you do not shut it off before you do, then it will lock up your card. I figured that one out 4 cards later
I'm sure I'm leaving some things out but I hope that helps, best of luck to ya and have fun!! Here are a few pic's from my cam set ups.....

Titan,
Thanks a LOT! That is great info...and damn that is a hell of a bruiser buck in hte last pic. I cant wait to get her out.
The area I am going to set it up has a lot of ferns, sounds like I need to make sure it is an area that wont get too much wind.
Nice pics and thanks again.
