i used to not do anything with mine, and got bitched at alot by some certin people. so i started lookin around and found some taxidermist that'll take some things and a few people here and there said they would want them. but i havnt even really killed any varmits this year. probably not next year, but once im outa high school i plan to do some serious trappin and sell my furs at them auctions

I used to sell them until I realized I was getting screwed on the price. The last time I was told a figure I showed up and he wanted to give me almost nothing. I said forget it, he asked what I was going to do with it, I said throw it in a ditch, he said in that case I will take it, I said you can have it for the original amount, he said no, I never went back. Now I shoot em and leave em.

Get a freezer full and go to Pateros. George Brady is honest and will give you what they're worth. I sold a bunch to him last year and he was very fair.

Or you could learn to put up your fur and ship them to auction. I used to make about a third of my income from my trapline and was sending all my good fur to the auction houses, the lower grades I tanned and sold or made mittens, bags and trim pieces for Buckskinners.
I stretch and dry mine and then ship them to a tannery and have them garment tanned. I'm putting together a good stock so so when I retire next year I can start sewing some fur items to sell.

If you're in the south puget sound area, Call Hart lake Furriers. They will treat you okay and will also trade for some real fine sewn stuff that Mandy makes.

I sold a bunch of coyotes last winter to a taxidermist friend of mine but he is out of the trade and doing other things now. I got $60 per hide. I sold him 24-25 good song dogs and a half dozen raccoons.

Polar tell me those were skinned and prepped!!!!!???? So, what did you get for them in Pateros, and did you have to do anything with them. The guy I was selling to bought them unskinned.

Dubllunger, they were skinned but that is all. He had a buyer that was hot for fresh hides and was willing to pay a little more for them. I lucked out with the timing. I had just shot a sick cow for my neighbor and used it for bait. I was shooting a couple dogs a day off of that thing. I shot 4 in one day alone. He bought a couple of bobcat hides from my buddy for almost $400 each. I wish that he was still buying, I could use some fun money right now.
