Title: Wing bone calls?

I have seen a few mentions on here about wing bone calls. Could anyone give specifics, ie. which bone, how to make and how to use? Sounds like it could be kinda fun.

I have some paper instructions at home.  I'll see if I can get them scanned in and send.  They were in the American Hunter (NRA publication) magazine a few months back.

 The wing bone call is probably the first turkey call ever made and was probably made by the native Americans to call in turkeys. It is fashioned by joining different sections of hollow wing bones and when used properly produces some of the most realistic yelp's  and clucks I have ever heard. The problem is that they are very hard to master. The popularity of slate, glass friction calls and wooden box calls have all but made the wing bone call obsolete. There is one manufacture-of a variation of the wing bone call called a tom turpin yelper. I used one of these for years but again it's hard to master and I have better luck calling birds using friction calls.

Wingbones really shine later in the season.  After the gobblers have been bombbarded with box calls, slate calls and loud aggressive calling for a week or two, they can get very call shy.  The soft realistic yelps on a wingbone can really pay off in May.   :twocents:

I should use them more, but I have all kinds of other calls. 3 times I had toms hang up and not come in, I broke out the wing bone and they came in like the Pied Piper. I think it sounds like a Jake yelp sometimes and the tom comes in to kick his a$$. ;)
