Title: Goex?
Post by: Ratdog68 on April 29, 2010, 10:06:28 AM
Who sells it in the Puget Sound area?  All I can find is 777 and Pyrojunk.  I like the 777, but want a stash of the real thing too.

Sunbirds in Chehalis used to sell it. I have not bought any there since I moved to Idaho, but they were about the only place I could find real black powder.

Thanks... I'll see if they still do.  I was in contact with Kesselring's in Burlington, but all they have is cartridge BP.

Nope... struck out there too.   :bash:

Did you try one of the GOEX distributors, the GOEX site says you can buy direct from a distributor.

Here's the link:  http://www.goexpowder.com/distributors.html (http://www.goexpowder.com/distributors.html)

I bought the last I got in 1975.  I belonged to the Yakima club at that time.  We ordered quite a bit. I believe I bought 35-50 pounds of ff, fff, and 1 can of ffff. I am still using on it. I believed it cost us either $1.50 or $2.00 a pound.  The powder was delivered to a armoury in the WallaWalla area. One of the club members was a Pepsi truck driver.  When he was in Walla Walla he picked it up in the Pepsi truck.  As I remember he hauled 1,500 pounds in mostly 1 pound cans.  There may have been a few 50 pound containers.  I think that would cause a ruckus now days.

I've seen the distributors link... I'm hoping to avoid the shipping hassle if I can (first).  Thanks.

I haven't found real powder locally.  I've purchased it online from Powder Inc, they ship it to you.  But you have to pay hazmat surcharge.  White Elephant in Spokane was selling Goex a year or two ago.

Been a few years since I darkened the doors at White Elephant... just haven't made it over that way in a while.  Always enjoy visitin' it though.

I emailed a friend who works at the White Elephant.  He said they still sell black powder.  Many restrictions, like only 5 pounds at a time in store. Permits etc keep price up, about $21.00 pound.

Thanks.  I'll definately stop in to see them the next time I'm in Spokane... no wonder places aren't carrying it (at those prices).
