I am headed turkey hunting soon, on some private property in eastern wa. Lots of turkeys from the sound of it...sounds like it is gonna be a 'turkey shoot'.... :chuckle:
Anyway, this is my first time hunting turkey...other than staying quiet, camoed and still...any advice? Will post some pics when I get them. I am kind of excited. I have seen plenty of turkeys, but never got to hunt em.
Also...once we get done turkey hunting, we get to hunt coyotes on the property too! Should be fun.
Thanks!

My best advice is first of all have fun and learn from it. Them turkeys will teach you a lot of things awful quick.
But I would start out calling nice and soft kind of get a feel for what the birds are doing. If they are gobbling and not coming in they could be henned up so back off dont pressure them and come back in the early afternoon when the hens are on the nest and give it a go again.
If they respond and they come in charging then best advice for that is to shoot them. :P
If you are planning on having one mounted and you shoot it, get on top of that bird quick, grab it by the feet pull the body into your waist and let him do his death thrashing with his wings beating on the sides of your legs, stops a lot of the damage. Have fun and good luck out there....

If you know where they are roosting just set up when they go to feed and slay them. Of course once you shoot them off their roost then they may not go back. You can do this in reverse and shoot them when they come to roost but once again, probably only once. You can gobble at night and see if they will respond, that will help you to locate them for the next days hunt.
Good hunting
