Title: They were out today, soaking up the sun
Post by: Tony 270WSM on May 05, 2010, 08:02:30 PM: Wasn't really looking for them until I spotted one. Then there would be one or two more within a few feet of it. Walk more find one. One or two close by it as well.

Post by: Tony 270WSM on May 16, 2010, 09:14:58 PM: Found an aggressive little *censored* today. Walked by a little pool of water, about 2x4 feet, and peeked over to see if any tadpoles were in it. Sure enough, lots of little guys swimming around. Then I also noticed a black and yellow garter snake in it as well. Thought I scared him and he was crossing over to get away. Nope, he was in there swimming around and eating the tadpoles. Fat guy too. Watched him for a little bit and got closer. Thing coiled up, opened his mouth at me, then tried to scare me with a mock strike. You kidding? I taunt him a little bit, he's still being aggressive and wanting me to leave him to the tadpoles. Got tired of his attitude and was going to catch him and throw him in some bushes away from the water, but he saw it coming and slithered into the tall grass. Thats okay, I'll get him. Put up a blind and wait at first light, he'll come out sooner or later :chuckle:

I cant seem to get a woody on film,where I trap beaver I seen one but the little guy always gets away before I can get a shot...Would love to get one mounted

I forgot a small copper belly in the top pocket of my Levi jacket(I was about 6-9 years ole) I can still remember hearing my grand mother's voice echoing out of the basement: S-C-O-T-T-Y etc.
I flew out of bed. In fact I believe I had an out of body experience...hahahaha :chuckle:

We also had pine snakes but we left them alone because they were so aggressive.

as for the snakes I like the garden snakes but have had a few get tough over the years .... heard a god awful screaming one time followed the sound to its source (I was that kind of kid walk toward the scary noise :rolleyes: ) and down near the pond I discovered a snake swallowing a frog but he had the frog backwards so it was screaming... that was a horror show had to listen to that for a good long while....dumb snake

I took the trap to my neighbors to show off, they ALL escaped in the garage. I think we caught 2 of them. We never told his wife. :chuckle:

Post by: steen on May 19, 2010, 07:03:29 PM: We rescued one from a hay bale that was still alive and well. It was packed tight in the bale and couldn't get out. My daughter resued it and we made a good release away from the next windrow.
