Finally we have a great Washington bull on the cover of a mag! Congrats to Rick on a great well earned bull. Also nice to see one of hunt wa sponsors get some coverage in the story, Dave with Western Life Outfitters (mtcook on here) was the outfitter who supplied the drop camp and put him in the middle of all the elk. Only downside to this bull is it bumps me and bucklucky down a notch in the books! nwhunter

We were real happy to see the cover and story this issue.  Rick's son Eric wrote the story and submitted a ton of photos, I sent all we had and Eastman's made the photo selection.  We put in a supplied drop camp for the guys, when we got to camp they were ready to hunt. I knew from my scouting the bulls were there.  Before I left I gave them some suggestions where to start.  They videoed some nice bulls during their hunt.  They saw the hunter from the other unit plus 2 guys riding through on horseback.  Not much pressure there.  We got the mules right to the kill sight, sure glad as that bull was big all over.  I asked them to not mention the location and they did one better by not even stating where in the State, thanks Eric. About 11pm Eric called with the news of the kill. At daylight Sas and I were catching mules at another place and heading to the trailhead.
We met them at a marker they had placed in the trail and made the cross country trip to the elk. The guys stayed a couple more days to enjoy the camp and play with those aggressive bulls.

Yeah, they were pretty cryptic about where in WA that bull was taken.  Good for them I say.  Great bull, great story, great pics.  Nice job mtncook.

That's it though guys.  That was the last big bull in that unit.  Put in for the Clockum this year...
