thanx guys lookin to go again sometime soon anywhere. hunt was great, started the afternoon before sith some scouting calling and roosted two sets of birds. first call revealed nothing but after a few chirps n scratches on the ole box call they started livening up could hear bout three different gobblers and tons of hens down in this lil canyon. we decided this would be a good place to start before dark so we hi-tailed it outa there so we still had a couple hours to go check out a second spot my buddy had in mind. at that location we seen all kinds of tracks n sign but no birds.. on the way out bout 8-815 we scared almost a dozen turkeys off their roost and two were toms and a jake had a shot at one of the what we thought was a tom but didnt take it cuz i wasnt sure couldnt see a red head or a beard so i held up. set out at like 5 am to sneak up on the roosted birds only to find out were a lil late and the birds were already on the ground, they were gobbling all over. so we changed our plan of attack and went to the oposing ridgeline, posted up and started calling. theyd gobble about every five minutes or so for bout 30 to 40 minutes then we hit the crow call and the canyon we were on top of lit up with gobble after gobble. all the birds were holding tight with the hens till bout 8 then we heard a different gobble way off at the bottom of the ridge i was on so we stopped calling for a minute to listen and he gobbled right away again and again so we hit the box call with a few yelps and put it away because when he gobbled again he was halfway up the hill already and i was posted for the shot he gobbled bout every thirty seconds till he got in view at about 35 yrds then his gobblin days were over with one shot. didnt think he was that good af a bird at first but hey first bird i wasnt complaining lol. he rolled down hill about 50 yrds to find a big beuatifull tom with a full fan and a 9 inch beard. ah ya found out im not allergic to poison oak lol, buddy was infested with it
