i just checked out the new browning x-bolt today. and wow that is a nice rifle. really good trigger imo and really light. perfect mountain rifle.
the one i was looking at was a 7mm with a 26" barrel. i was really suprised how light it was for the caliber and barrel length. WAY light then my ruger m77 7mm wsm and it was alot smaller rifle compared to the x-bolt.

-

I just looked at the website, pretty good looking rifle and I'm sure it good quality. I'm jonesing for a new rifle. :chuckle:
-
My gun shop sells the stainless sythentic for $777 its the most expensive one.
-
yeah wood/blued is $734 at OE
its a very good feeling rifle imo.
-
The walnut and blued look cool too. Not a ton of calibers available yet. Id take it in a .243 though.

i wish i could get one in 257 weatherby mag...
i want to get one for hunting mulies in the high country. thats the only way i will hunt modern firearm anymore is for the high hunts. so w.e rifle i do get is gonna need to by light, flat shooting, and not alot of kick...sence its gonna be a light rifle i dont want to get something like a 7mm or bigger.
its gonna be a rifle that will be shot alot, sence the high hunt is so short of a hunt. i need to get alot of trigger time to make sure im dead on. and that gettings annoying with the bigger calibers.

I have been looking for a Kimber Montana in 7WSM, they are $1100 and the X bolt looks like its only a couple of ounces heavier and a whole lot cheaper. :dunno: I might have to do a little thinking.
-
i can tell you this. they feel alot and i mean ALOT lighter then they are rated on the website.

I've had my eye the X-Bolt since 07. (That or a T3). I was bugging my Shop guys about it before they even knew what it was. I think we're the wise-est around for showing interest in this fabulous gun. It's got great balance for being so long in so many calibers. The mag and plate set up is nice too. And off course, great bolt. If you haven't found one yet go find one to fondle.
Now that they've begun to show up around town I'm excited to start hearing some range reports. It'll be a little bit before I can swing it but thank goodness they cost less than a grand. I can't wait. 300WinMag for me. I'll live vicariously through the first batch of champions that buy em up until then. Oh yeah. Can't wait.

yeah i really like the tikka's. i want to get a tikka big boar in 30.06. they come with a 20" barrel and would be a perfect brush gun imo. everysingle shop i have went to has no clue what i am talking about. and the gun has been out sence before last hunting season. so yeah.
i wouldnt expect any shop to know shiat about any gun on the market. UNLESS they actually have one in the shop. and even then alot of people still dont know shiat about them.

I do like Brownings, but from the photos I thought the XBolt is one ugly rifle lol. Like the ABolt much more.
-
i agree i like the look of the A bolts alittle better. but imo the X bolt is about the nicest feeling rifle (in my hands) that i have ever felt. it just seemed to fit perfectly.
im still waiting to check out a few other rifles before i decided to get the X bolt though.

Walker how does it feel different. I have a couple A-Bolts wood and Synthetic. Just wondering. Is it like when they added the palm swell to the synthetic stock different.
-
the stock is a little different
i wouldnt say there is more or less of a palm swell. its just shaped alittle differently, also the forend is a little bit more rounded. and to me feels a little narrower.
it just fits my hands very nicely, and felt really good when i shouldered it.

I have 2 A-bolts. I really like the actions. Would like to build a rifle based on that action but I'm wondering about availability. I'm guessing they're gonna be hard to come by and I'm gonna have to switch to the X. Hopefully the X-Bolt isn't substantially different.
