Title: stupid question about elk areas
Post by: BIGINNER on May 21, 2010, 03:11:39 PM
sorry  this is probably a stupid question,   but what are the elk areas for?   when you open GOHUNT on wdfw and select the elk ares to be shown,... what are those areas made for?  problem elk?

If you look at the special permit hunts, you'll see they have many permits for those "elk areas." They are for targeting specific portions of the larger GMU's, which are usually mostly private property. So yes, I suppose you could say they are for "problem elk."

They are specific boundaries for specific elk hunts.

some of them also fall under firearm restriction areas so no rifle hunting and other restrictions on some of these.
