Say's Phoebe, the best garden, orchard tool there is.  For a few years they have raised 2 bunches of babies in their nest on my porch. If an insect flies they got it, I don't have to use insecticides when the Phoebe's are around.

I thought it was a western kingbird.  I thought the Says was a little more rusty colored.  They are incredible fly catchers.  I was trying to photograph hummingbird moths and this phoebe came busting through and nailed him.  Talk about a meal.

Checking in the book you may be right, a Western Kingbird.  Very similar, the King has a white line each side the length of the tail, looks like your bird has that. I stand corrected.

yep the king bird is a cool bird but noisy as hell, we have some that nest around the house and as soon as we walk outside to do anything they start raising hell :chuckle:
