My wife told me on her way home from work a big buck had been hit just down the street from my house. I live among some monster blacktails in my area so I figured I wouldn't see it on my way to work in the morning and I wasn't going to make a special trip down the street to go investigate. She said there were already a couple cars pulled over checking things out. Anyway, on my way in this morning I drove real slow where she explained to me it was hit. Sure as heck I caught a glimpse of horn out of the corner of my eye. Someone dragged it off the side into some bushes. It was a good buck. Still fully intact, no road rash (the rack that is). I snapped a couple pics and went on my way. I'll post up some pics in a bit. Solid 3x4 with eyeguards and all kinds of trash on the bases. Perfect velvet even after being hit. Bummer. Had really good growth for how early it still is.

Always sad to see a deer go that way.

Yeah I looked again for it on my way home and someone snatched it up. It was pushed pretty far into the bushes off of the road. I really don't know why someone would take it. Wouldn't the rack just rot anyway?

What a shame, that was an amazing buck! :(
-
wow! That would have been a dandy, thats too bad. :(
-
That was a dandy, hope his daddy is still out there
-
Bummer...those bases look gnarly.
-
That's why i Bow hunt. More big bucks around the apple trees and houses than in the deep dark dank timber...
-
yeah what a fine deer to bad he had to go that way
-
We must be neighbors... I watched two cops drag it off the road shortly after it was hit... Then yesterday morning I saw two waste disposal guys in a work truck load it up. Glad to see a pic, I could tell it was a bruiser... That's more antler growth than most raghorn elk have right now... Maybe I should put a trail cam in the back yard :chuckle:

That would have be an awsome BT  that sucks
-
damn shame, wonder what the car/truck looks like :dunno:
-
Hope he passed his genes on before he died!
-
it looks like he might have had a drop tine on his right side if he wouldnt have a *censored* and got hit
-
what a waste

The nice buck that used to hang out near the Meridian exit of 512 was hit and killed a few weeks ago also :(. He looked huge bodied. The next day I drove by and was going to stop to take a closer look he was gone. I have to believe he was removed by the city. It's sad to see a good buck taken by a car!

doggone deer,,, they may be able to read "no hunting" signs, but they sure as hell cant read traffic signs

Funny how they can run circles around you in the woods. But god fobid they try to cross the road.
