Title: Nikon Monarch Riflescope POLL:
Post by: MDGrand on June 07, 2010, 02:18:39 PM
Based on an earlier thread in Guns and Ammo.. I wanted to take a poll on this board to see if any others had a problem with the zero changing when paired with a Mag Rifle.

Let me know what you Nikon users have experienced. curious to find out as I have been a big Nikon fan and just bought a 300 RUM.. and I am wondering if this pairing is going to ultimately cause a problem.

Thanks!

Think you mean 'Poll' :chuckle: :chuckle:

I have no other info to contribute to this thread...

I have no experience specific to the scope or rifle you mentioned, but I'd be pissed if an expensive scope like a monarch would not stand up to a RUM. Sure they kick but not enough to break a good quality scope.
Maybe your specific scope has an issue that needs to be repaired?

Nope my scope is fine on my 300 weatherby and I think it is just fine on my 300 RUM (still breaking in rifle). But I am wondering as some pretty substantial users of this site told me their monarch scopes bounced off zero when paired with a mag rifle. Like everything else, there is always an exception to the rule and I too was surprised by their stories.. but I am curious as to others experiences...

I had the 3x9 on my 7mag for many years, and did not lose the zero. I'm now wishing I would have left it on there.  :bash:

I had a 3-9 Monarch mounted on a 338 RUM years ago. I shot the *censored* out of it with max 215 SGK's, and 225 NP's. That rifle/scope combo shot 1/2''-3/4'' groups all day long, if a guy wanted too. That was a 700 LSS, and kicked noticebly harder than the 5-6 other 300 RUM's I've shot. Also have had Nikon's on 257 Roys, 7 mags, 6mm's blah, blah blah, with nary a hicup.  More than I can say for the Leupy's or Ziess I've had..... Which reminds me, I gotta send in my Ziess on my 240, as it tracks about like a pellet gun scope....

Actually, I been looking at too many scopes. Its the Bushnell Ellites that are tested this way. Sorry!
Still trying to figure out what scope I want for my 300 wsm.

Yep, it's Bushnell 3200.
I have a Burris FFII on my Tikka 300WSM.
The recoil is crazy..6.5lb rifle.
Never a problem.
I have Monarchs but not on kickers.
Great glass.

:chuckle: they all kinda run together i have seen the shock droper they hook the leupolds up to that represents the recoil of a 375 h&h
so that i why i figured it was leupold but bushnell sounds right as well :chuckle: but not nikon
