Title: camera lense question
Post by: BIGINNER on June 20, 2010, 11:50:55 PM
ok, i am thinking about giving photography a shot,  nothing seriouse,  just like to have a nice camera along on hikes/hunting/fishing trips.  well me question is,  can i use lenses off of my film camera on a digital camera body?  i have a nikon N65 film camera and i have two lenses for it, a 28-80mm nikon lense and a 70-300mm nikon lense,  well can i get a nikon digital camera body that i could attach these lenses to?  or would i have to get different lenses for the digital camera,    thanks for any info...   :)

i'm just tight with money, and i'm probably not gonna get too serious with photography, so i just want to try to get a digital camera body and use the lenses i already have.

I am guessing by the camera body you have...the two lenses are the standard "AF" lenses.  If that is the case, the new digital body that will auto focus those lenses would be the D90 ($800).  Not inexpensive by any means.  If you can find a used D70 or D80 body they would work with your lenses too.

If they are the "AF-I" or the "AF-S" lenses you could use the less expensive D40 - D40x -  D60 - D60x -  D3000 - D5000 bodies.

Hope this helps.
