Title: Question on an old Winchester Model 90
Post by: Rob on June 21, 2010, 07:58:27 AM
My dad recently picked up an old octagon barrel Winchester .22 long - he had one as a kid. The barrel says Winchester Model 90 on it.

Does anyone know if a model 90 is the same as a model 1890? The photos look the same to me.

Thanks Carl,  This has great info on the model 1890, but I don't see any mention of a model 90.

Is a model 90 the same as an 1890?  they look identical

:) I a guessing but I think it is the same gun, you could cross check with the serial number you have.

It is the same model. in 1919 model nomenclature changed to model 90 that was around serial number 640,000. There were 849'000 1890's made between 1890 and 1932. It's a great gun if you want to know the year it was made send me the serial # and I will look it up for you.

Great, thanks for all the info!

I'll see if I can find the serial #.  i found several sites that gave me ranges by year.  Just need to go find it.
