well since i didnt get drawn for the tags i put in for i need to start scouting for the general season. ive never hunted the westside during the general elk season, i know it will be a zoo, im just trying to narrow down some areas to focus on. i get laid off at the end of august so im going to have a ton of time to scout! haha. right now im thinking about staying in the south rainier area since i scouted it briefly last year and have done lots of grouse hunting up there. seems like less people hit that area than all the areas around st helens and its a bit closer to home...anyone have any tips or stories or success pictures from up there? im going to be spending a ton of time in the mountains this summer and fall and will definitely have pictures and stories from each scouting trip to share!
im open to any and all suggestions. :hello:

Hmm might help if you narrow it down to a particular area your gonna hunt (local towns etc.) thats kind of a broad description.

last year i spent a good amount of time off the skate creek road, trying to decide if i want to focus on the east side or west side of skate creek road.

South Ranier is 3 point or better and a lot will tell you it is a zoo during archery season. I have scouted it a bit and there are some promising areas up there but I haven't been it during archery season. Good luck and keep us posted on your scouting adventures.
