Title: HS Precision
Post by: actionshooter on March 03, 2008, 05:07:25 PM
I'm wanting a new lightweight rifle in 7WSM really bad and I was looking at the profesional hunter lightweight rifle. Does anyone have a HS rifle. The big question is, is it worth the cost? I had seen these for $2300 in the past now they are about 3k  :ACRY:

My dad has one in 300 WSM and it is a great gun.  Whether gun is worth the price or not is only up to the person buying it.

Yes I have a HS Precision rifle in .308.  But, it's a pro-series 2000 in a heavy barrel.  Too heavy for what you're looking to use one for.  I don't know a thing about the pro hunter lightweights.  Though I have a Remington 700 KS custom mountain rifle in .280 and love everything about it.  Remington makes these guns out of there custom shop.

Take a look.

Good luck

I would have a good smith build you one if you want to spend that kind of $$ I got nothing against hs, but if you take greg tannel, shawn carlock, karl campfeld or many others 2500 bux you are gonna get way more gun than that hs will ever be.

HS Precision makes some very fine firearms, and have in the past manufactured most of the test barrels used by bullet manufactures to test their wares.

They're a great gun!

Christensen also builds a super nice custom.  If you haven't seen em take a look at them too.

Kinda depends on your budget and how much you wanna mess with stuff.  I think you can build a gun just as good if not better for less.

Also.... there are some great off the shelf guns from Rem and Browning as well as stuff out of the custom shops.

Cooper, and Nosler are a couple others worth a look. For custom shootin irons, Kampfeld turns out some amazing stuff...

You can have one built much cheaper that will be custom built by a good smith for much less, and shoot just as well with same features.  If you have the cash and don't want to wait then buy it as they make a great rifle.

HS is a poor value,on a poor product.

Do think highly of their DBM's,if only in fairness.............
