Title: tucannon Quality tag.
Post by: WALLEYERICK on June 29, 2010, 11:12:08 AM
we must be on a roll!! I drew the Wenaha East in 2008 and my hunting partner just drew the Tucannon tag for this year. Familiar with the ruggedness of the area, just not the Tucannon, other than what I've seen from the road. Looked at past posting, and I know pretty much where they hide after hunting the Wenaha, but more or less looking for trail head suggestions or past tag holders information if anyone is willing. Godman has been suggested and we will look into that, but there has to be some other accesses? ;)

6x6 - 320. I had pictures posted here somewhere. Mine was the one that had the tree fall on it!

The PM I got from you was blank. Good to hear about your success in 08. Would love to see the picture and hear how the tree fell on it. I am excited about my wenaha hunt. Good luck this year with your tag.

Great bull and awesome pics. I am even more pumped about the hunt now. What map would you guys recommend picking up?  Having a hard time finding a good one online.

Country is steep. When I knocked him down, he rolled into the timber, hit a tree about 8" dia., broke it off and took it with him down the hill till it hung up on two trees, thus hanging my bull by the rack, keeping it from falling another 100 yrds to the "complete" bottom. We only had a vertical assent of 1000 ft on my gps up a rock cliff ridge with about 1/2" of wet snow on it from the night before. Other than that, cake walk.  about maps? use Google Earth and Call Dave Waldron, he will drop camp you and he does the best job of any packer I've ever seen.

I rememebr that now! Hella steep country. I know my 08 Wenaha bull rolled 200 yards or so to the last tree there was before going off a cliff !

Thanks Rick for the compliment, received your E-mail tonight about Scott's hunt.  We can work something for him.

Here is one of Rick's pictures.  The hunters really made it easy for me as they had packed the bull up that steep ridge right to the trail.
