Title: Lk Troll Down riggers

I have a little 14' Deep V Alaskan that I want to get set up for Salmon (Silvers,Humpys).
Im looking at the Cannon Lake-Troll Downrigger ,But for a little more money I can get Cannon Easi-Troll HS Downrigger .
Now bare in mind space is limited.
What are Your Folks thoughts on this.I have looked over the reviews and am kindof up in the air on it.

I got the easi-troll and am now really glad that I did, much more versatile than the lake troll. I use the extension all the time and have used the deeper troll capabilities a few times. I say easi-troll.  I got mine on line ( used ) for $ 200 for a set of 2 with all accessories. Saved a lot. Mike

I might look on C/L.for a while.

I also went out and bought the swivels which are nice. Make sure you think about it a little before mounting them. I fished mine a couple of times and then moved them to a better location. Another feature of the easi-troll was it could handle a lot bigger ball. I fish 12# on mine and the lake troll was limited to much smaller. Have a good season and good luck. Mike

but of the two you are looking at, I'd go with the telescoping most likely if it holds up. well, then again that depends on how many guys you think you'll have in your boat. But then again, now with the two pole endorsement, I guess it also depends on what lakes you'll be fishing because two guys could feasible run 4 poles. the telescoping downrigger is nice for that to keep everyone clear from each other.

just make sure it feels solid and well built. nothing is more annoying than being in your boat and stuff not working right.

There will only be 2 people at the most fishing from this little boat and just 2 poles one per person..

Im just looking for something simple and cheap..I dont have a big electrical system and dont need to go much deeper than 50-60 feet.

If I need to go deeper I will go with My brother or 1 of my buddies that have the big boats.

if you're not going deeper than 50-60ft than the manuals aren't a big deal. Although I have gone much deeper than that in the sound, but even so it would probably be fine. its thouse 100+ft depths that become a pain in the butt.

I am just tired of run 6 six's and or 10 oz.sinkers and that whole deal
I just thought why not just put a small down rigger on the boat and now Im not 200 ft. behind the boat hooking everyone gear looking like an A$$ Cap wearing Bone head..
With the down rigger I might still look like a Bone head,
But Im only 60-80 ft below My boat. :o

i hear you. even with the sinkers I think sometimes its just not enough. When we were chasing makinaw in lake chelan we left our downriggers at home  :bash: and it was almost impossible to get enough weight on the to get all the way to bottom. the drift in the lake just made it a pain.
