Title: Hey guys. Looking for some Margaret help.
Post by: Huntbear on July 10, 2010, 01:56:06 PM
Well, the WDFW did the old switch-a-roo.  One of my hunting partners was shown to be not selected online, received a post card in the mail today.  He has been selected for the Margaret Unit Regular Season rifle hunt.  As his second choice!  :yike:

We are already planning about 6-8 camping/scouting trips up there from Late August till elk season starts.  However, you guys that have hunted it recently, if you could throw some ideas, tips, point in the right direction would be appreciated.  I will be going in with him during the season, carrying a camera, and a pack board.  Send PM's if you are not comfortable posting on the main board.

Already been reading every old thread I can find in search.

Thanks

Huntbear.

I hope they do the old switch-a-roo on me.  That would make me very happy.

I've not dealt with a biologist for the west side but the east side bio's I've asked about my permit have been extremely helpful. You might give it a go. You can find out who's who on the WDFW page or call the region HQ and ask and they will connect you with the bio for that area.

p.s. I really hope they don't switch-a-roo my permit.

Oh, he is excited as hell.  He is looking for a wall hanger on this one.  He shot a nice 5x5 about 6 years ago, but nothing worth sending to the taxi.  He said he wants a 6x6, first one he sees dies.  :chuckle:

Thanks.  That is familiar country, just never scouted it hard for elk, since I have never had a tag.

Just curious, if he was shown as "Not Selected" did he lose his points?

Our group puts in every year for the marge muzzleloader.  Been in scouting the 5065 and have seen alot of nice bulls along coldwater lake.  We saw 25 in one bunch with several nice 6x and 5x's.  Pretty steep area but they were heading for the timber over the ridge from there.  Good luck !
