Title: Anyone try hunting the reservations?
Post by: nchaput on July 18, 2010, 09:54:32 PM
I have been looking around at the various tribal lands after driving by a beautiful swamp full of birds last fall and I was wondering if anyone has bought a permit from any of the west side tribes for hunting access. After watching tons of pins and mallards land in one area I am chomping at the bit to get an early start if I can. Any input would be great.

The tribes care less about duck hunting on their lands, and would probably give you access. But I think it is a  :bdid:. If you are talking about the Skokomish River delta you do not need a permit as long as you stay in your boat while in the water. However as for the Skok delta and swamp there are ducks there, huddled right up to the TONS of trash that certain "land stewards" have carefully placed there (talking about the swamp area).

As for any other hunting, good luck. All of the big game animals have been spotlighted to death and you would be hard pressed to see an elk or harvestable deer on a rez. :twocents:

I tried to with the Lummi tribe, but the NA Wildlife enforcement said sorry.  They don't issue any permits to non-natives.  I would have to accompany a tribal member in order to hunt there land.  They have it to good, why share.
