I just picked up a NIB M700 XCR in 7mm-08 on clearance for $599! I thought it was used when I first saw it. I'm super excited to get some loads together and shoot. I've heard nothing but good things about the 7mm-08 and I'm excited to finally have one. I found 2 boxes of Federal Fusion 140gr to play with for cheap. I'm going to clean the rifle and give it the once-over and then scrub the barrel down with JB bore paste. Then, its off to the range.

yep they are a great cal i have 2 one in rifle and one in handgun very nice cal and at a good buy
-
Nice caliber. My boy shoots it and loves it. (So do I)
-
Great round. I love mine. It flat drives tacks.

What??? You were looking at the Remmy just the other day :dunno:
-
When are you going to the range?
-
I bought a Remmy. I picked up an XCR, the stainless/black version vs the black/green version. I don't know when I'll get to take it out. I have some crap to do this weekend and then I should be able to go. We need to take it out and play with it when we can. I'll put the VX-3 3.5-10x40 on it now. I think I'll end up putting a VX3 2.5-8x36 on it later.

And what of the 270? It going down the road?
-
I think we need to have a talk Dan. Admitting your problem is the first step. Say it with me: My name is Dan and I'm a gun-a-holic :chuckle:

I'm a gun-a-holic :chuckle:
i resent and resemble that remark
-
I might keep the 270 just because I'm not sure there is anything more right than a Model 70 in 270 Winchester.
-
Maybe that XCR II in 7mm Remmy you were looking at the other day :chuckle:

To me, the M70 is more of what I think of when asked about a well-made rifle. The M700s perform well, but there isn't much to them. Just a drilled out tube for an action and a washer for a recoil lug pinched between the action and barrel. But, I do think the M700 is a great hunting rifle and has nice lines. I guess that's why I bought another one :)

some guns just dont have any "soul" ya know. you just dont get that feeling. they feel cheap and hollow.
-
lots of "soul potential" in my m70 featherweight in 7-08. one of the classiest looking guns on the market today in my opinion.
just gotta get out and get good at shooting it before october!
