this year I will be hunting gmu204 just south of republic. I am taking my 9 year old girl for her first time. will be camping at swan lake or ferry lake. I chose this spot as we really enjoy camping and fishing there and there seems to be alot of deer around. anybody got any tips or general info about this area? I was just curious if all the deer I see while camping is a good general sign of the amount of deer in the area.

I've scouted there that time of year many times, prior to rifle, the deer are down lower then, near the water sources. You might have better luck along the larger creek drainages to the north of Republic during that time, I have never seen many deer in that area you are staying in September, compared to later in the year after the rains/ snow move back in. Tribal road hunting is fierce in that area south of Republic.

A few years back I got the "pleasure" of dealing with the gamie over there. He showed me a photo album with some pics of bucks taken around there. he told me that shooting a muzzy with any buck it shouldn't be a problem tagging out. I am not after a trophy (wouldn't pass one up of course) I have always lived by the saying " don't pass up on day one that you would shoot on the last day" Tribal road hunters don't bother me unless there is an issue with them messing with my rig while it is parked. How about hunting in the state park? is it allowed? I have never had this scenario before.
