Title: Steelhead fishing tonight
Post by: kbyers on July 26, 2010, 01:54:44 PM
I know this is short notice but was wondering if anyone has any input on where to fish tonight.  The 2 choices are Drano or the mouth of the white salmon.  I feel fortunate that this is one of the harder decisions that I have to make today.  Thanks

Are you in a boat or off the bank?

Bank fishing?  Drano.

Boat fishing - it is a coin toss.  I hear they are catching numbers at the mouth of the Big White Salmon, but 75% are wild.  Inside the mouth at Drano I understand they are doing real well in the boats too.

Stop by Home Valley Store.  Get you some of the Purple dyed coon shrimp.  It is working right now.

Send me a pm if you have any questions.

Not sure what is going on at each, just drove by both this morning on my way to work. Lots of boats in drano for sure, less at the mouth of Big W. Good luck and keep us posted on how you do and what you see happening!!! Thanks!

Well tI won't say that the trip was a bust, we only picked up 2 steelhead, both hatchery, on live sand shrimp fished on the bottom with a drift rig that was slow retrieved from an anchored boat.  I was able to buy the sand shrimp from bridgemart, but it was delivered on Monday and they said that they don't expect another delivery until next Thursday.  When we launched the boat a guy was leaving that stated that he caught 13 that afternoon.  Our night was slow and I have a buddy that is down there right now, has been fishing since 3 this afternoon and has zero fish in the boat.   :dunno:
