Question for you guys that fish Drano, The wife and I were down there in the gorge the weekend before last. I thought "great lets hit Drano for the day". when we got there the wind was blowing about 25-40 mph!  There were about 12 boats on the lake, most anchored but a couple were trolling.
I know the gorge is windy but dang! How the heck do you fish in that wind?

Very carefully.  :chuckle:

Actually, just plunking, works well.

I was down there today with my buddy, we caught 4 altogether, only one was a keeper. Kinda slow, but was still fun. The wind was ripping today where we were, not too much fun in a 12 ft boat.

ripping is not the word.  More like Gale Force winds.  :chuckle: :chuckle:  I was over on the beach, and it was absolutely awful.  I swear some of the gusts were 50 mph.  Then the lightning, and about 11 pm some real hard, cold rain.  Not one bite either.   :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:

haha yeah it was pretty funny, we were in the smallest boat and we were the furthest ones out (closest to the bridge). Some of the clients in the guide boats were more interested in watching us bounce up and down in the swells than watching their bobbers :chuckle:

I watched one guy go overboard over by the rock wall.  I think he was trying to pull the anchor up.  Lucky for him, there were two more guys in the boat, to pull him back in.

It was the first time I have seen 1-2 ft. chop in the cove at Drano.   :chuckle: :chuckle: :bash: :bash:

You can see from the pic that the wind was pretty fierce, and this was taken after it had started to calm down a little. Not a big fish, but can't complain when you are catchin steel.

I was down there in the wind storm last night. It cleared up for a couple hours after the rain came through and we hooked 4, landed two natives. I have fished there many many times and have never seen a constant wind that was that strong. For those of you that frequent Drano. I am in a 14 ft blue and white Livingston. Sometimes my fish-on yell gets pretty loud so if you cant see me you might be able to hear me.  :chuckle:

Hey 270, I see you are using the same color nail polish I am.... except you spilled it all over your jeans.   :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

I missed 2 bites last night, using a bobber, down by the bridge.  The wind was terrible from 7-9:30 pm.  :bash:

Fishing is still slow.  I think this cold front moving through, has taken em off the bite.

I am gonna try and get back out there this afternoon.  Hopefully the wind will not be to bad.  It sucks having to cast straight up towards the hatchery, to get your line to land in front of you, straight across.   :chuckle: :chuckle: :bash: :bash:
