Posted him in the Trail Cam forum along with 4 other bucks I am following, but I am going after HIM in a month, so just curious as to what everyone thinks he might score? :dunno:
p.s. I will post pictures of him the first week of September...With my hands around his antlers! :chuckle:
-
I am not good at guessing scores but that is a stud.
-
Thats a dandy buck-good luck to you
-
180 or better. some deductions but WOW
-
Leave him for stud. Think of the future! :chuckle:
-
That's a toad, I say 183-2/8"
-
that second pic is awesome.
I really hope you get him! What a great buck. Good luck man.
-
180-190" stud for sure
-
Huge  Nice pics
-
Holy cow :yike: :yike: :yike:. I hope you get a few more pics of him in the next month....then a TON of him and you. What a buck!
-
That is a BIG Whitetail. Deffiantly a nice one. Put him on the ground!
-
I think he'll be right in the 180 range gross. That is a great buck!!! Put him on the ground and worry about the rest later. Thanks for the post.
-
188 3/8
Great buck! Washington? Public?

Great buck! Washington? Public?
Yes and Yes, but I will never tell where. I even have to bring my buddy (hunter-4-life) in blindfolded when we go up there to check the cams. :chuckle:
-
178
-
:dunno: Shoot first ask questions later :chuckle: It's going to be a long month.
-
Beautiful buck! Love the split G2's. I'd say175-180 after the velvet is gone.
-
i have trail cam pics of that same buck. hitting my cam every between 5-530. :yike:
just kidding, you got a hog there bud. i hope you break him in half. bucks are sure grown huge this year, everything on that side is so green. i have already seen a couple mulies that will got 180 atleast.
-
I am saying right around the 175 gross mark. I can't wait to see that deer in person after DBzona puts him in the dirt.
-
holy crap... that is a beautiful buck!! I saw one VERY similar many many years ago in the Cusick/Usk area...dam... that was 18 yrs ago...
-
Very, very nice. Hope you get a chance to run an arrow thru him. Great pics, thanks for posting.
-
Hard to tell before the velvet comes off, but I think he'll go almost 180 with all the extras. He'll make B&C as a non-typical I'll bet...
-
HOLY COW, my knees get weak just looking at the pictures. This is going to be a long month for you, what a STUD of a buck.
-
:yike: wow, love all the extras!
Beautiful buck!
-
I'm guessing he will gross in the low 180s. Super buck for any state, especially here! Best of luck putting him on the ground.
-
Great looking animal  Thank you for posting.
-
That is an amazing buck, great character......the velvet always makes a buck look bigger.....so I think he will score in the mid 170 range. That is a buck of a lifetime, good luck!
-
That is an incredible buck!! Hope to see pics of him with a little blood on his mouth
-
Not a bit over 125.... you guys need to back away from the pipe! So just give me the GPS coordinates and I will sacrifice my tag to take him out of the gene pool for you.... ;) Ok, so he's bigger than my 145.... so I will go with 165.
-
I am thinking gross of 165ish. deducts will kill it, but I bet it will be along time before you see more character.
-
deducts will kill it.
Nets are for fish. 180+

YA, WHAT HE SAID! :chuckle:
-
I've never seen such a symetrical rack with so many nubbins!
-
it will be easier to score when it is laying on the ground. i hope you get that hog. i am gonna say 190.
-
I'm not nearly as generous. he might gross 170. (I think high country said gross as well, not net), but its an awesome buck.
-
Wow it would b nice to have the option of letting him walk cause he looks young still but public land some other guy who never seen him before might drop him if u don't so it better b u since you been watching him already huh good luck man can't wait to see the pics of him in the dirt
-
Doesn't look like that buck has the height to make 170 net. Gross though yes, I would say solidly 170.
-
Looks allot like the one year older brother of my deer from last year ;) solid mid 160's shooter in any state!
-

You are right Bone, he did say gross. When he said that "deductions would kill it" I assumed he was talking net.
-
I would say 175". But hunt4 I have never seen a main frame 3 point go mid 160's. Maybe it just a bad pic.
-
I agree hunt4. Unless the pic really doesn't do it justice, I don't think thats a solid 160 deer. Don't get your feathers in a ruffle as its only bs about score. ITs a great buck. I LOVE HOW he carries his mass. Nice mature buck.
-
This deer ended up OFFICIALLY in the 150's. I think it was 158 but would have to confirm....might be 155. ANyways, even with the long tine length its hard to overcome missing that point....... This would be one of those nets are for fish type of deer but........

99.9 percent of guys are shooting that thing on public land, I know I am. The only way I would 'pass" and let him grow is if he was on a big private ranch where you could be reasonably assured he would make it. If he is on public no way am I letting him walk.
-
ABSOLUTELY wouldn't pass that deer. Character alone would get him killed. Thats a keeper.
-
geez I did not mean to start a trend of parade raining. I simply did not see the high #'s that some did. I felt 165 on the gross was kinda generous. net-wize, there is some stuff that is gonna go backwards.......score it sci or say phuck it and be happy with a cool buck regardless. I would shoot it without reservation and I would call me friends and say look at the nice buck I took.
-
Not raining on anyones parade at all (for the record), just *censored*tin'. I'd drop both of those bucks in a heartbeat, ESPECIALLY the first one. Gnarly bases absolutely turn my crank. The only reason I wouldn't is if I was specifically after another buck in the area, or I had the govenors tag in my pocket. Thats about it.
-
Awesome Buck for sure. I am going to guess 171 3/8. Hope you get him and we can all compare our guesses when you get the real number.
-
He's a stud for sure He'll be in the 180 range
-
Holy hell that is a sweet buck! I bet your losing sleep over that one!
MS

If you could only imagine! :chuckle: two weeks and counting! I am hoping he does not go nocturnal on me.
-
I am hoping the same. I want to see this buck hit the ground and then see it in person and admire his greatness.
-
Dear god he's amazing!!! I love what God does for us each and every year.
Except for the buck fever, and you have to go to college....
-
just want to say "wow" dam nice buck
-
checked the cam yesterday. Had a huge bear come in and this deer only came in twice in the last 5 days, late at night, and did not even get all the way to the cam. I am a little worried. up until this last soak he was coming in everyday. :'( Only 2 of the bigger bucks i am getting were coming in consistantly. wonder if that bear is having an effect? any ideas anyone? We also put some alfalfa out and am wondering if that might have something to do with it. :dunno:
-
I dont think the bear would have much effect on them coming in unless it is in the area at the same time. This is the time of year that the big boy's start going nocturnal. Keep the bait out and he will keep coming in. If he goes nocturnal now maybe you can catch him later on during the rut when he's thinking about other things! Hope you can connect on him that is a very nice buck!
-
I don't think the bear is the problem. It is standard for the big boys to become more nocturnal this time of year. How often are you going in to check your set?

I have gone a couple of days to a week, and he had been in every day until that bear showed up now I have only seen him twice on the cam in over a week and he did not stick around long. I noticed he had been slowly becoming nocturnal and figured it was natural, but why is he not coming in as often as he used too? Could it possibly be the bail of alfalfa I put down? I am going to let it sit a week or so this time. I went up and put some grain down that they loved and hopefully he will start coming back in.
-
When WT become hard horned they switch modes. Always see the big buck out the first 3 weeks of Aug and then they loose the velvet.
-
I won't completely rule out the bear but I will say that I have bear coming to most my sets and it doesn't seem to bother the deer much. In the past I have had things slow down for a couple days when I drop a bale of alfalfa. However, this isn't always the case.
Now, there is a possibility that he has had a negative experience(s) over a bale of alfalfa or with a bear and that may have taught him a lesson. Perhaps you can try starting another set without alfalfa within a few hundred yards of your current set (and in an area you think he travels) to see if he hits that one. Again be careful about putting to much pressure on the area.
I think it is primarily due to the time of year. As you already know he didn't get that big by being dumb. I would try to limit your exposure to the area as much as possible just in case that is the problem. Do you have clear ingress/egress routes or is it difficult to travel without making a ton of noise?
-
its the moon! the last 5 days have been a large moon. just my :twocents:

ya, I have thought about setting up another site a few hundred away, but will wait for now and see what happens. My route to the stand is very easy access. All I know now is its a week and a half till the opener! :IBCOOL:
-
WOW :yike:
-
TOMMOROW IS THE DAY!!!! Christmas is here! Do I wait for this guy, or pull the trigger on one of the other 5 shooters coming in? :dunno: Just kidding, I'm waitin!!!! :chuckle:
-
Take him...
-
Damn. Nice buck. That would be a dandy trophy.
-
good luck!
-
As much as I would like to see you take him, I do believe that it will be really hard passing on the 150 class buck that has been coming in.
