Impressive set of antlers for such a young animal! What kinda a bow you got there? Switchback?

Right on, any blacktail buck with a bow is a good buck. Looks like you made a nice shot on him. How about the story?
That pic of the elk is really cool, I love the contrast with the dark sky.

Yes I was working chopping our logs for firewood, my wife and daugther was out back of our ranch, Buck just happend walking thur our yard. My wife walked up to me and said theres a cute buck down there so I grab rangerfinder and bow and head down looking for him couldnt find him then one min later I saw him jump over the fence out to forest land and I sneak over east and I stand stright took a rangerfinder check it was 38 yds so I draw and hit perfectly then buck start to ran over 130ish yds unbelieveable long way. We found him. it was good time. we mount him. Guy did this buck said it was HARD because very thin hairly and hard for him to wrap and stiche it up. anyway here my daugther love to ride it :chuckle:

Short haired bucks tend to come out nice. They show off the fine muscle detail in the face and neck and a lot of veins in the face. They can be very difficult to sew up if you are not use to it. If you can sew a dorsal on a small mammal than you can defiantly do it on deer.
I've had 4 years of sewing short haired animals while in South Georgia. The deer and small mammals in Georgia, Alabama, and Louisiana never fully develope a winter coat. The temps rearly get below 35 degrees down their in the winter. I would say the average temp is between 35 and 50 degrees in the winter.
One thing I've learned about short haired deer is you want to sew as little as possible. So I don't split my short haired capes all the way dont the back. I do a short "Y" from the antlers down the neck just enough to get the skull out.
