Title: Lake Wenatchee Sockeye
Post by: swanny on August 05, 2010, 11:32:24 AM
I'm heading for my annual vacation at Lake Roosevelt on Sunday and was thinking of getting up real early to stop by Lake Wenatchee and try my luck on the sockeye out of my kayak. Where do people launch out of? The state park or is there somewhere else?

Being in the kayak, getting to different parts of the lake to fish isn't exactly quick, so if someone has some advice on an area to launch and focus on and wouldn't mind sharing, that would be awesome.

Thank you!

you might be able to launch out of glacier bay at the top of the lake on the south side, its going to be a mad house as usual so i hope you have some good evasive skills as everyone fishes in the same area and there are some people out there who dont really pay attention

It seems like most fish at the north end, the public launch is at the south end (about 5mi.). I would drive around the west side of the lake to the end, there is a scout camp or something there. That would get you a lot closer. There was a post on here the other day of 200+ boats (so I would be very careful in a kayak). I may have read wrong, but in the spokake paper the season was only Sun-Tues. That must have been wrong?

dfw issued a release saying that the lk. wenatchee season will reopen on sat. aug. 7, i didnt see a closing date so maybe they will let it run till the quota has been caught

Hey everyone, thanks for the replies. I'm not sure if we will end up heading out or not yet, but it sounds like if we do it will be a long paddle to get to where the fish might be. I'm not to concerned about boat traffic, but know there are always idiots out there to contend with.

Thanks again.
