So my buddy just drew an Archery Alligator Permit for lake Eufala In Alabama. I am so excited. I will be playing camera man but how many times in my life will I get to say I've been on a Gator hunt? The hunt starts August 21. :IBCOOL: I WILL... Post video of it on here. So stay tuned.

sounds sweet!!! i have some friends that do a lot of gator hunting and being the local bowfishing freak it is right up my alley. is he using a bow, cross bow, harpoon? is he going with a outfitter or is he a resident down there and know the waters?
-
He's a local that knows the area. He's been doing a lot of scouting and has seen a ton of Gators. Last night we went out on his boat with a spot light and the amount of Gators we saw was pretty unnerving. So it should he a good hunt. And before anyone jumps on me about spotlighting you hunt them at night.
Carp he is using a bow. He has never shot a bow so I am giving him a crash course in shooting a bow. He just bought one and got it set up with 600lb cable. The arrow he is using is made by Muzzy, its called the Gator-getter. So far he can shoot pretty well out to 10 yds. Which is fine since we got about 8 ft from a ten footer last night. I am so pumped about this. Carp do you have any advice?

Maybe you'll get lucky and get one like this 13 footer!

canyon that is awsome. Where and when was that gator shot. My buddy has seen a bunch of them in the 10-12 foot range. Unfortunately the season opens up August 18th and I can't go until the 20th. Either way I will provide footage.

yeah i got tons of tips you are talking bowfishing and that is my game :IBCOOL: but i have never shot gators! but same rules apply if they are under the water make sure to aim low. the water refracts the image of the fish/gator and they look like they are just under the surface when they are deeper. the gator getter is a alum arrow make sure if he did not buy the kit he buys at least 2 of them because if he misses and it bends. which they will do, he will be screwed trying to shoot a bent shaft. :chuckle: do not!!!! try to shoot gators in the head!!!! :chuckle: it does not work to hard to get the point into. for killing them either a gun to the Mellon or bang stick. make sure you use a big enough float for the gator as well. if he did not get the kit from muzzy by the bigger float so they don't pull it under and it gets caught in some crap and you can't find it and lose the gator. :chuckle: is that enough tips for you or should i keep going :chuckle:

Definately keep going. He bought 3 of the Gator-Getters. If you don't shoot for the head where do you aim for?

Gator Down Baby!!!!
Well we went out last night and by buddy filled his gator tag with his bow. It was 8 feet 2 inches from tip to tail. I got it ALL on video and I got some pics. So as soon as I figure out how to get it onto youtube I'll post the video. And the story to go with it.
I have a digital camera. There are ten segments that are each about a minute long. (Starting and Stopping the Camera) Does anyone know how to combine them so that when I load them on Youtube it can go on as one 10 minute video instead of ten separate one minute videos?

sweet glad to see he got one :IBCOOL:
