Last weekend I sighted in my new willams peep with the ghost ring on my black diamond xr 50 cal. everything was working great as far as seeing my target, but by the time I had it adjusted the sight was at the very end of the base. It is hanging over the end of the base as to where I can't move it up any higher to raise my shot up, the bullet is fine at 2.5'' above center at 100yrds but it isn't going to take much to bump the sight off completly. Does anyone know of this kind of problem and have any solutions? Thanks, just to let you know my front sight is a fixxed sight.

OK a few questions first. Where is the peep mounted receiver or barrel? did you purchase the WGRS Black Diamond? and are you using the aperture holder for the ghost ring or purchase the Fire site Ghost Ring?
-
It is mounted directly above the trigger, I'm not sure the model of peep i bought threw the paperwork away. It has a small base which is screwed to the gun and then the peep screws into the base. The black diamond is the xr model. thanks

If it helps and you don't mind, I could send you a pic off my phone if you leave a phone number on a PM. I'm not quite good enough with the pc to put a pic on the website.

i found the peep on cabela's, it's item# QL-214918. Someone on the comments about the sight said they had to put a shim under it? wtf, i wonder if williams makes one?
-
OK, the site you bought is not specific to your rifle. Williams makes on that is and that may be the issue. Typically when you have the issue you are experiencing it is because you need a Taller front site, you may need a shorter ramp on the peep. I would call Williams and talk to them, tell what you have and they will be able to help you.
PM sent also.

A shim is just a small piece of plastic you would place under the sight to make it a little taller. Cabelas has them and will put one on it for you. If you live somewhat close to the store go in and see what they can do for you. This however will only raise your sight about 1/16th of an inch and may not be the best option for you.

what the guys said is spot on. you can shim it or get a shorter ramp.

I called Williams they told me my front sight is actually to tall and I need to shorten it. I have to call them tomorrow to give them the exact height of my front sight.

trophyhunt,
Take this information with a grain of salt as I have not yet verified it. Here is what I found out when looking into this same issue on my standard BlackDiamond last year. I was toying with going to a peep sight so I was reading here and there on this sight about just the problem you are describing. I called Thompson to check out some information I read about there being 2 front sights that fit these rifles.
I was told that it was true..there is a part #61006255 with a height of .470 and part #39201280 with a height of .340. My understanding is the first site is the norm, the second is for a different rifle that does fit the mounting.
As it turned out, I did end up going with a Williams peep on the back, not 100% sure on the model. but it was listed for my BD. As it turned out I did not have to make any modifications, but if I remember correctly the peep sight can be located in one of two locations on the standard BD, not sure if it the same with the XR. I had to play with that location a bit to see which worked best for me.
I just realized the other day when clecking my stuff that my front sight on the BD is busted, I can probably just replace the fiber, but I think I'm going to go ahead and pick up one of each of the above to play with. I missed them today by an hour, so it looks like tomorrow on that.

thanks, I'll find out more tomorrow when I give Williams some more info. Sucks i put 20 hornady shots through the gun for nothing but I guess it was fun shooting anyway.

well after a few phone calls to Williams and T/C, it is there opinion that I need a shorter front site. T/C is sending me one in the mail today. Thanks for all the input and help, I will let you know what the outcome is after I shoot with the new site.
