Title: Knife Gift Suggestions
Post by: oneshotkill on August 14, 2010, 11:21:43 PM
A good friend of mine is turning eighteen in a few weeks.  This is a girl that I have known for a while and over the years have turned her into quite an outdoors woman.  For her birthday I would like to buy her a nice knife. I would like it to be something that is rugged and very functional but also something that is cool looking and maybe a little different.  A knife that not everyone else owns so it is a little more personal.  However, I don't want it to just be wierd si-fi looking.  Nice but different. I can't necessarily afford a full custom knife but I was thinking something in the $0-$50 range maybe more if it is the right knife. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Rugged, Functional, maybe a bit unique...  Then you have to spring for a custom from Rainshadow.  Are you looking for something to hang off the hip as a hunting utility piece or something in a folder that fits her purse well?  Although not unique, but very functional and rugged, I've always liked every Gerber lock-back folder I've owned. They won't break the bank either.

X2 on a knife from Rainshadow, here's a link to his knife page http://rain-shadow.com/knives/index.htm (http://rain-shadow.com/knives/index.htm) . He's got 3 or 4 knives that he's selling for $55, better check it out.

Those are pretty cool knives for 55 bucks.  If that's your budget those are nice.

Rainshadow makes some nice knives, so I will throw in a X4.  Bruce Bump makes some of the best knives I have ever seen, but i dont' think you can get into one for less than $200.

rainshadow knives look good.  If you are thinking folder a benchmade griptillian is hard to beat.  they are real close to you 50$ limit here http://www.knivesplus.com/benchmadegriptilian.html (http://www.knivesplus.com/benchmadegriptilian.html) for a bit more you can get them in blaze orange or pink.
