First off, I'm wanting to know if the warehouser area around Mt. Si is still open for public use and hunting. I spent alot of time as a kid in that area hunting and fishing. And how about the Cumberland area? I'm just getting back into hunting after several years break, and we didn't have computers and such back in the day, so I can't make heads or tails out of GMU's. My dad usually took care of all that.
And, I have a Marlin 336 30-30. I'm wondering about which rounds and grain are ideal for Blacktail around here. My reasoning for buying the rifle is it's a decent brush gun, and there's an awful lot of thick nasty stuff, if my memory serves me right, that these Bucks like to hang out in.
Anyhow, thank you for your opinions/help.

I don't know about Mt. Si but the land East of Cumberland I believe is now in the White River area of Hancock land that you have to buy a permit for access. I think Weyerhaeuser sold it all a few years back.

Whatever it shoots best. the 30-30's I've had liked 170gr and any good soft point will do.

if you can find them the hornaday leverloutions are hard to beat. 160 grain ballistic tip made to safely feed through a leveraction. Shoot good. recovered the bullet from a 250 white tail I shoot perfect mushroom looked like everything but the plastic tip was there.
