I just got my rifle back from the gunsmith. It is a remington 700 that use to be a mountain rifle. It shot horrible so I decided to rebarrel it. I decided to go with the 7WSM cartridge. I have been working with the guys at Benchmark Barrels for a while now and they have done a few rifles for me that have shot excellent. I expect this to be top knotch. I went with a little heavier barrel than normal because I wanted repeatable accuracy. I added a Mini Muscle brake that makes the recoil virtually non existant. I think I am going to get a fixed 6 power scope for it or something a little smaller than I have. I will post some groups as soon as I have a chance to get to the range. I am so excited.

Nice looking gun!
-
that is SWEET! what kind of groups do you expect out of it?
-
why would you get rid of that scope... i have a gun that is in sore need of glass if your looking for a new home for it.

Looks good.
Gotta ask though why a stainless barrel with a blued receiver? Personally I would want them to match but I'm also slightly OCD.

Te stailess barrel is the same cost as a regular steel. I am planning on doing a duracaot paint job this winter after hunting season is over.

I expect sub MOA for sure. My 300 win mag from Benchmark gets 1/4 moa out to 600 yards and 1/2 MOA past that. It will shoot better than I can.

It is a custom contour that Rifle Works uses. I liked it and went for it. It is about twenty thousandths over a standard magnum profile.

Your right it's sweet!

Looks great!
How has your luck been with Benchmark? I'm now on week number 15 of my Savage Striker barrel that they're making. I'll be honest, I'm begining to get frustrated. But if your other guns that they've worked on have all turned out well then it may be worth it.

You have to be patient. It took a while to get this one too but it is worth every bit. Remember too that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Give them a call and see what stage it is in. Believe me you won't be disapointed. They are good guys out there. They are just trying to keep up with everything. I know they just expanded their shop so they can handle more volume. This is a good thing. I would rather wait for an excellent barrel than get an ok one quickly.

Thats one good looking gun  Let us know how she shoots?
-
What's it like shooting it with no ear plugs with the brake?
-
Ron at benchmark said it is not bad at all. He has one on his 7wsm. He shot a few animals with it and he thinks it is even quieter than not having a brake. I will let you know how it is when my bear hits the dirt.
In all honesty, when I have shot at bear or dear, I don't hear the gun go off. I guess it is the adrenaline.
