Title: Springfield XDm 45
Post by: DeerHarvester on August 21, 2010, 05:49:22 AM: Does anyone have one of these yet? If so I would like to hear the good bad and otherwise on this new model. From what I have seen it doesn't have too many changes from the standard XD, other then the grip and match grade barrel. I guess the mags are also interchangable from the standard XD. Thoughts???

How is the trigger pull on these guns? Is it a two stage trigger pull if so does it have alot of take up pull? Been thinking about getting one of the XDM's. Maybe in the 45 auto.

How is the trigger pull on these guns? Is it a two stage trigger pull if so does it have alot of take up pull? Been thinking about getting one of the XDM's. Maybe in the 45 auto.

The stock trigger is terrible, 3/8 or more movement that feels like wringing a sponge, I put a Springer Precision kit in mine and spent a lot of quality time on the striker, the difference is dramatic. My xdm now has about 1/32nd of movement to trip the sear, it's so easy to shoot now that I can't believe I waited so long to do the trigger job!

Thanks for letting me know. I am a big time rifle shooter and have my triggers set a crisp 2Ib. trigger pulls.

Post by: sticky on August 21, 2010, 11:30:04 AM: I have an XDm in 9mm and an XD 40 SW and really like both. The trigger pull is ok. I had to replace the striker retention pin in each piece. This was due to dry firing, even though I used snap caps. The trigger seems crisper after those new pins were in place. Not really sure if the new pin is the reason, but it does feel better.

How much did your trigger job cost?

I just shimmed and polished up my 91/30's trigger, it's now pretty similar to a factory xd(m) trigger, if you have ever shot a Mosin then you have an idea of what I am talking about. This rifle turned out to be accurate enough that I think I'll get the Timney for it.

How much did your trigger job cost?

I think I paid $135 or so for the parts with shipping and did the job myself. There are a lot of tutorial video on youtube if you need them, take the slide apart inside of a bag...You wouldn't believe how far that striker spring can fly if you lose your grip on it... :'( I spent a little quality time searching my living room for it a couple of times :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

That roll pin that you replaced has nothing to do with trigger feel btw except for the fact that you probably cleaned and oiled it a little better than usual :chuckle: you should replace the striker stop spring if you are breaking roll pins though.

I have shot many glocks and sigs. The XDm feels the best in my hands, I hate the trigger on my glock and my sig is not relaible. Good input thus far, I'm just on the fence between the XDm45 or 40 and I don't want to turn this whole thread into a debet about 45 vs. 40. I know the pro's and con's I was just looking for some input on the new XDm45.

Sorry no trade, I keep all my guns even the junk. Its not junk just wore out, its had a *censored* load of rounds through it. Its a Sig pro SP 2340 40cal. It has a couple design issues that don't work well with the way I shot. If I may ask why are you wanting to get rid of your XDm?

This is true. The M had the mag well opened up to be able to fit the larger capacity magazine. Nothing else could have been done with the exception of making a taller mag.

This only applys to the new XDm45 and standard XD45. The mags are exactly the same on both 45s. Your are right about the XDm40 they made larger mags in the M factor.
