Post by: Axle on August 21, 2010, 06:34:44 PM: Once in a while one of them ends up being a cow. I've seen several mounted and a few in pics. I've seen pics of fawns nursing from an antlered deer.

Several years ago, somebody shot a 6 point in the teanaway and it was a cow. Scored over 300 too and had a beautiful rack (the one between the ears).

They are genetically trying to breed out the "spike gene" so none of them are legal bulls. If you have a special tag, you can shoot them, but everyone knows you will just let them walk waiting for a bigger bull.
It's actually genius. I am surprised the elk didn't think of it before this... :chuckle:
