Do they release pheasants to a set schedule (Friday, Sat, & Tues) like on the West side, or is it more random?

They will tell you one day and then do it an entirely different day. They claim they have been shot at to many times. So you never know..........Bob

Here on the West side it helps if you know the guy that drives the release truck. The rest of us just follow the truck’s tracks through the field.
It’s almost like hunting.

I would like to see them eliminate the release program on the east side in favor of a habitat improvement, and private lands access. I just don't find the pen raised birds very challeneging, and I remember the better days when you could easily shoot a limit of birds in a day.

I have hunted in the Ringold area and all I see are piles of feathers. I think they are doing more to feed the coyotes than to help pheasant numbers. I have taken it upon my self to kill as many coyotes as I can.

Those piles of feathers aren't from the coyotes, although I imagine they eat thier share. Those piles of feathers are what the hawks leave behind. Coyotes eat eveything in just a couple of gulps, so they don't leave many feathers, and the damn hawks are protected. :bash:

i know that around wenatchee here its relatively random and there are a few guys that get "inside" information as to the date and locations. but i agree with the above statement i would much rather see the release program canned and the funds be spent on habitat improvement, the pen raised birds often are basically shot right after release or become coyote or rapture food.
i can remember when bridgeport bar was excellent hunting as well as the strip of state land just south of the town of monse along the okanogan river, now both tracts or basically worthless scab land and starlings wont even live there
