Our neighborhood bucks just seemed to drop their velvet in the last few days. Didn't even see any in transition. Of course, it probably doesn't take too long to strip a fork of it's velvet. :chuckle: Weathergirl was hoping to get a crack at one next week still with its fuzz, oh well.
-
I saw a dandy four point with velvet and a two point that was hard-horned the other day.
-
I saw a jumbo 4x4 this weekend. he was still fully velvet.
-
I saw 200-250 deer over the course of the last week and not one was hard-horned...whitetails and mule deer.
I did see 1 bull that was hard horned, but the other 30 or so that I saw were still in velvet. That hard-horned bull was also the biggest bull I saw...about a 300"ish 6x6.
This was all down in the Blues.
-
I've yet to see a hard horned buck.
-
i would say that most of the bulls up here are now hard horned! I did see a very nice buck Saturday that was still completely fuzzy. Havent been seeing many bucks but the elk are def. hard horned! Also heard the first bugle of the year friday!
-

Two point in velvet two days ago, I don't usually see the blacktail around here out of velvet until the 2nd week of September, minus the odd freak.
-
was out looking around this evening saw 12 bucks about half an half
-
Hey Hogsniper, I'll stand in for you, just let me know those coordinates.... Wouldn't want that buck to get lonely. :chuckle:
-

-
Blacktail spike still in velvet this last Friday.
-
Saw 3 Nooksack Bulls yesterday a 6x6, 6x5 & a 7x7 & they were all hard horned. They were also doing some sniffing & dry humpin but the ladies weren't interested. :'(

-
Still seeing blacktails in velvet in my area.
Bulls a different story.
-
Everything I've seen in the Methow/Okanogan is still in full velvet.
-
Everything I am seeing still has velvet. These were from last week.
-
Deer are almost 100% velvet so far, I'd say bulls are pushing slighlty more than 50% shed.
-
Every buck i've seen in 448 and 460 are still fully in velvet.
-
Just got home from 162, only seen 3 bucks but all 3 where still in velvet.
-
Mulies in 172 and 175 high and low, all velvetty. Seems to be a good crop this year!
-
Southeast part of the state.
deer will strip 1st of sept. give or take a few days.
pretty much all 3 year and older bulls are stripped, 2 year olds will be stripping right now and yearlings will be spread out over about the first 3 weeks of september.
general rule of thumb, there will be a few exceptions.
and Pathfinder, you need to go kill that buck! He doesn't look too bad.
-
I saw a hard horned two point BT on Saturday.
-
I have seen 2 hard horn this week. But I would say 95% are still in velvet in my area
-
I guess it's pretty much our baby fork horns that are velvetless already. Saw a spike still in velvet though tonight. Here is one of the three in the yard yesterday.
-

Private Land Bluebulls. Just happened to spot him from the road.
-

-
Velvet is disappearing in the Methow in the last few days.
-
Blacktail walked by my front window yesterday still in velvet. Called the wife in to see and woke the baby, got in trouble. Still pretty cool though.
-
Right now must be peek shedding velvet for mule deer this year . I saw 5 more bucks today that were hard horned anywhere from 2x2 to 4x4. I have yet to see a hard horned whitetail.
-
I saw two 2pt BT about 3 days ago with velvet
-
Weather may have played a part. We had a record warm winter followed by a record cold spring.
This is happening in other places too. I have a buddy in New Mexico who called me last night and said he has seen 30+ bulls over the past week and they are all in velvet. Weird!
-
We had one with a wide rack and he showed back up yesterday, still with his velvet. He was just a part of the moocher gang (second pic).
-
Hey--you took that photo from my deer stand! :chuckle:
-
Muleys we saw this past weekend were still in velvet... from a spike to a big racked muley..... bulls were still in velvet also.
-
The blacktails up in he alpine today were all still in velvet.
-
There was a nice 3X3 mule deer with small eye guards dead on Hwy 97 today that was still in full velvet. Got a pretty good look at him as the four trailers in front of me thought the speed limit was 45 :bash: :bash: :bash:. Makes a 6 hour drive a 8 hour drive when you combine it with that great bit of traffic on 90 around Cle Elum :bash:. I know my fault for timing the drive but I will be over it tomorrow :chuckle:.
-
Several legal muleys have lost their velvet since last weekend.
-
Saw 2 this morning, both full velvet.
-
20-30 bucks this weekend, only 1 hard horned.
12 bulls, 3 yearlings in velvet, anything older was hard horned. Bulls were with cows and bugling decent.
eastside.
-
Everything I saw today was still in full velvet. Lots of deer but no bear. No acorn crop this year :'(
-
have a couple of bachelor groups pretty well patterned for the last month and a half all muleys except 1 big 5x5 whitetail hes the only one who is hard horned out of all of them, he was in velvet till last saturday. -
Seems like 50% in my area no
-
I saw 21 bucks yesterday. The smaller bucks were hard horned and the bigger bucks still had velvet.
-
That's wierd Gringo. Exact opposite up here. Nearly every bigger buck I've seen in the past few days was hard, and the little guys were fuzzy. One dandy 3 point this morning standing in front of me at 20 yds that was very fortunate that I was after another guy. ;)
