Title: Elk Birth --- 1 of 2
Post by: flashover52 on August 24, 2010, 10:05:23 PM: Received this from a friend -- typical email thread that some most likely have already seen. I did a quick search and didn't see anything come up but if this is a duplicate....I'm good with a mod removing this.....

I don't have the actual photographer's name or I would give proper credit. Maybe everyone working for the "parks dept." came out and watched it...and photographed it on 'company time.' That would make it public domain right? :dunno:

I think it's funny that this cow realized giving birth near the building would likely provide protection from predators.....here's the email text.

Superb photos of a cow elk giving birth to her calf right next to the Administration building at
Yellowstone National Park headquarters in Mammoth Hot Springs! You can see how wildlife
and people can live together harmoniously. And I figure it is one of the few places in the
Yellowstone area where a cow elk can safely have her calf without it being eaten immediately
by a grizzly or a wolf!
