Can you tell us a bit more about this? Is this a camera setting or a PS task?

It is three different camera settings. First pic is under exposed, one normal then one over exposed. Then there are different programs that take those three pics and do the magic. :)
MS
Actually just google HDR and you'll find a ton on it. Its not that difficult to do.

Most newer DSLR cameras have the ability to "bracket" images. Read your manual to figure out how to do it with yours. MS is correct, when bracketing your images the camera will take a series of shots in sequence. You can select how many stops you want to under expose and over expose. I use 3 to 5 different images depending on conditions. Use a tripod and a remote or set your timer so the camera doesn't move.

Thats really cool looking! If you had not said it was a picture I would have thought it was a painting.

HDR shots look really good when done right. You guys have all put together some great images!

Looks like I need to upgrade to Aperture 3 so I get in on the phone. I can't get Photomatix to run on Aperture 2.

Yep they are real photos and yep altered with software, sometimes the photos we take need some WOW factor because they would be just a little ordinary otherwise so shooting HDR photos is a way to bring a little bit of excitement and creativity to a photo. Some pics are way over done and can still look good some don't !!!

Great stuff you guys !!!

There are several different ways you can adjust images with Photomatix or similar programs. I don't use the program to make cartoon or painting type images but rather use it to highlight the things the eye can catch that the lens cant in a single shot.

Here is a shot from TMikes moose hunt.
