just got this in an email from a mt outfitter.
that ought to increase your odds of drawing.
GREAT NEWS
The Montana DEER & ELK LICENSE DEADLINE has been extended until 5 PM Monday, March 17. Some of you missed the deadline, here’s another chance to get your license.

They must have contracted the same outfit as WA to take care of their licenses. I went to the site and found twice where they said March 15 was the deadline and none where they mentioned extending to March 17. A deadline is a deadline, if it is important enough to you, you will have your paperwork in on time. In this case I'm not as concerned since the deadline was on Sat and most will never know about an extension.

ya i dont get it. if you want to do the hunt then you will have your application in. period.
-
I don't understand it either. I wonder if it has something to do with Cabelas.

I got mine in ontime.

If I don't get drawn, at least I have something to blame it on. :bs:

I figure it probably had more to do with not all post offices are open on saturday (15th), so they extended to the next business day (Monday, 17th) to be fair to those procrastinators in those towns. I don't figure it will make that much difference, one way or another.
-
would have made a difference had I known, I was dealing with losses of loved ones and thought about it on the 15th but too late to catch a post office to get the postmark. I was in MT at the time just couldn't focus earlier what with deaths both my wife's family and my own.

sorry to hear about your losses. That is never a good thing.

I think that after having to ask hunters to come back last year because of the "lack of harvest", and realizing that the deadline was on a weekend, and knowing so many of their applicants post mark their apps on the last day, and not wanting to have to extend the season two weeks like last year, they felt the need to move the deadline to the 17th. I predict even fewer hunters make the drive this year than last year, even though they draw. Fuel prices are going to make hunters limit their number of travels, I generally go 4 or 5 times each year, thats going to be expensive this year.
