Doesn't look like those antlers were shed naturally!

My guess is winter kill that somebody found.  Game department will remove the antlers that way if they find them as well.  Seen a lot of those up in that area.

Magaret is also any bull permit area.  Absence of a carcass maybe because the hunter did not want to transport the head and loaded the rest of the parts, cut the horns off and packed up camp.  Of course, the other theories are also possible, with no bones scattered around I doubt winter kill, or poaching, cause poachers tend to waste alot of the animal and take the choice parts.  Scavengers would have scattered the carcass  close proximity.  Looks like the pedicles indicated it was a young animal !  Any way you look at it, it is now in the green meadow in the sky !  :twocents:

I am drawing the line right here.  I am not in the mood for pot stirrers in this thread.

#1 Just because you find a skull with antlers cut off in the woods does NOT make it an Indian kill.

#2 Just because Bigdog has only been a member 2 days doesn't mean he hasn't been lurking for 2 years!

For heaven sakes guys it is HUNTING SEASON.  GO HUNTING!

That skull has been on the ground for quite some time.
Who knows what happened.
Might be a cougar kill.

An animal has most definately chewed on it. Nose is ate off of it. That is something animals will do first. It could also be after season dumping the head.

Michelle I wasn't stirring the pot. Just letting him know probably not the best way to start off nor I mention my opinion on if it was poached.

How can you tell the nose was chewed off?  The picture dosn't show the whole nose.  That skull looks in good shape.  I don't think it has been out there more than about a year.

bigdog9236 sounds like he is about as fed up wth every time someone mentions a poached animal, finding the remains of a dead animal, animals going missing it turns into must be INDIANS thread.  I agree with him when he says there are more White poachers than Indian poachers.  I also realize and agree that indians get away with a lot of bull *censored*.  A few bad apples ruin it for everyone.

Nice thing about this thread, we will never know the real story.   Speculation is human nature though.

Deer Slayer I never said that you said anything about it being an indian kill.  You did not!  I was directing #1 towards Fishcrazy.

And I was warning a new member to basically be careful he can be eaten alive on here making that his first poach. I am not one for stirring the pot or arguing about small stuff. I stated my belief on it and that was all. I have a love and addiction for hunting and I joined the site to talk hunting read stories and stay away from the *censored*. I go to work everyday and deal with that. Let's enjoy and respect each others thoughts. Like you said it's hunting season and my favorite time of the year. Now let's keep the stories and the pictures coming.

Why did I ever mention the word poached! I'd like to think it was not poached and mabe a shot animal unrecovered(not that thats a good thing)with no other bones around it could have been a dumped skull although it was atleast a mile behind a locked gate.  :dunno: I hope the next picture I post from the margeret will be of a dead cow! another pic
