So, Friday night we are hunting and I gotta take a dump, you know when you can feel it coming but you can still hold it off for a little longer! Well we were in the elk and I decided to wait till we got back to camp. When we finally got back to camp I was beat and I just laid down and crashed. The next morning the feeling had sorta passed. We set up on an elk that was screaming at us, but would not come in. While we are sitting there waiting for the bull to take its sweet ass time getting to us that's when the urge came back. Ok, I can't put this off much longer! Well the bull took off, never saw it. So, we continue on, but I don't want to stink up the area were I know there is a bull. So, I hold off for a little longer were I know there is an area were we had seen no elk at all in the past just a short walk up the road on a little spur. We get to the spur and I grab the baby wipes and start down the spur road looking to the sides of the road for a good stump to do my long awaited business. I am so focused on finding a stump that isn't in sticker bushes that I hadn't looked straight down the road to notice that there was an elk bedded down at the end of this spur. When I finally did notice I had walked probably within 50 yards of it. OH NO, I left my bow back at the junction! So, I hurry back to get my bow hopeful that the elk does not spook. I grab my bow, my buddy tells me I should try the Elk decoy out, so I grab that holding it out in front of me as I walk down the road. Holding that decoy and my bow was a little tricky but I made it back down the road to about 50 yards when I accidentally drop the decoy. Well turns out there were two elk and they both get up and start for the trees but hold up right at the tree line. I am now at full draw and walking toward them. At 25 yards I can see the vitals of one of them so, I let it fly. Elk down!! Thought it was a cow, but ended up being a antlerless bull (little guy, probably last years calf). So, I guess putting off a crap can lead to good things! :P

gave up on a lost elk once, ran out of blood, and tracks, and one night and morning into it, went abit off the trail, took a dump and while doing so saw a tiny spec of blood, game on again, i guess *censored* really does happen.

I've heard so many of those stories, enough to know I'll never get up to go to the bathroom without taking my gun with me. I've never seen one at that moment but once I was getting to find a spot and happened to see deer coming through the trees at 80 yds. Sat back down and picked a tree far enough away so that by the time the first one got to me (almost on top of me) I would already have checked for a legal buck. Eight muley does came by and not one buck, they did not see me until within 10 feet and then all heck broke loose. It was pretty cool. I don't know if you can shoot while going to the bathroom or not and I hope I'll never have to find out. It's the first I've heard with an elk down! Congrats!

Couple years ago, my partner dropped a buck while doin' his business. Hadn't even started his paperwork yet. :chuckle:

That reminds me of a hunt while getting over the Flu. Didn't end that well though, elk trotted right by me as I was crop dusting the sage! My brother couldn't believe I didn't get one. Congrats on your determination and GRIT!
